Gearing Up for St. Paddy’s Day

Did you miss me? Well, I missed blogging last week, even though I had a great time in Savannah with my GI Joe. That’s probably why I missed it…with no hooligans around, I could actually think for more than a nanosecond about what to write. Now you’re once again stuck listening to my stream of consciousness as I write with frequent interruptions!

Now that I’m off the shrimp-n-grits and praline high I was on last week, I’m so excited…Stampin’ Up! is holding a regional workshop/conference in Milwaukee this weekend, and of course I’m going. We Stampin’ Up! types love to “swap” at these events…you make a passel of a cool card you’ve designed, put all the info on the back, and then trade with others so you come home with lots of inspiration. Of course, we have plenty of online resources for posting and sharing ideas, but there’s just something about actual cards that make it way more fun.

I thought I’d make a St. Patrick’s Day card for swapping, so I’ve been brainstorming…a bit, at least. This is my favorite so far, but I’m still not sure it’s what I’ll swap.

All Stampin’ Up!: Pinch Proof stamp set (retired)
Garden Green and More Mustard Prints DSP; Whisper White cardstock
Garden Green classic ink; Stampin’ Dimensionals
Small Heart, Dotted Scallop Ribbon, Heart to Heart, and Decorative Label Punches

I used the largest heart in the Heart to Heart punch to make the shamrock. Oh, and I’m lying…it’s not all Stampin’ Up; I used a green rhinestone in the center of the shamrock. It came from a craft store.

If I use this as a swap, I’ll have to change the sentiment…we can only use current Stampin’ Up! stamps and supplies. Well, I guess it’s back to the drawing board for me…but I hope this inspires you to make a few cards for your Irish friends…and that’s everyone on St. Patrick’s Day!

  1. What a cute card! I love the idea of using hearts to make a four-leaf clover!

  2. Love your shamrock! Hearts--who'd a thunk? And the sentiment is adorable.

And, yes, you were missed. And with all the bad weather and not knowing where you were, I've been worried about you. Geez, I'm like an old mother hen fussing about her chick. Glad you're back and okay. How'd you're mom hold up? I'm sure she loved having time with the lil' hooligans!

    1. It's so nice to be missed...and my mom had a good time, I think. Of course, the true test will be the next time I ask her to stay with them. I told the other wives at the conference this may be the only time they ever see me!
